Uganda is termed as the “Pearl of Africa” and we can’t disagree with this. Despite of all the different challenges it faces, it still remains the “Pearl”. Things like the beautiful climate, the lovely, peaceful  and hospitable communities , the beautiful landscapes and physical features , all these make Uganda an enthralling place everyone would love to visit . Generally, the whole of Uganda is a pulsating country, steeped in tribal ancestry and life. It’s an all-round top African adventure! As our research on social media has indicated Uganda best safari destinations on twitter below we discuss them.

Firstly, we are going to talk about twelve  most popular destinations  in Uganda on social media.

1. Kampala

It is the City of Seven Hills as well as the capital city. You will see Uganda best safari destinations on twitter that are in Kampala. It is also known as the heart of Buganda Kingdom sorrounded with very many interesting forms of history that took place during and before and after colonialism. Since it’s the biggest city , it has a number of places people usually visit and they include the following;

Baha’i Temple. It is Africa’s only Baha’i Temple, also known as the Mashri’qul-Adhkar . The Mother Temple of Africa has attracted the Baha’i community and nonbelievers from all over the world. Below is a  view of the Baha’i temple .

Rubaga cathedral. Rubaga Cathedral, also known as St. Mary’s Sacred Heart Cathedral Rubaga, is a twin-towered Roman Catholic cathedral perched on one of the seven hills of It is also one of the most popular places in Kampala because it is a religious place. Below is a view of Rubaga cathedral .

Kabaka’s palace .This is King “Kabaka”  of Buganda‘s palace. It was built  in 1885 with the  Twekobe as a symbol of Buganda Kingdom’s past power and below is a view of the kabaka’s palace

Namugongo shrine .It is also known as Uganda Martyrs’ Catholic Shrine Namugongo .It is a Catholic Parish and Shrine established in the honor of the Martyrs of Uganda by the Mill Hill Missionaries in 1935. Every 3rd June , people travel from different parts of Africa and the world to remember the Uganda martyrs who died for their faith .Below is an image of Namugongo shrine .

Kasubi Tombs . Kasubi Tombs is the burial site of four of Buganda’s past Kabakas. This is a place with lots of rich  history about the Kingdom of Buganda .Below is a view of the Kasubi Tombs .

Uganda Museum . This is one of the oldest museums in Uganda and it’s the ideal place to go and study about Ugandas history . Below you can see some of the thatched relics of the former glory years at the Kasubi Tombs.

 Central Kampala . This is a place of throbbing markets  including the city’s Owino market that is  said to be the largest in Central-east Africa. Below is an image of the owino market .

2. Kibale National Park

Kibale National Park . It consists of  dense jungles and wetland forests and it is a place you can never regret visiting . It also consists of the world’s most awesome arrays of wild chimpanzee packs, and you can see these majestic simians of Central Africa trawling through the undergrowth and commanding the canopies on game drives and safari excursions of all different types. 3. Ssese Islands

Ssese Islands is a cocktail of golden sands ,  sun-kissed beaches and lapping waves, the archipelago of the Ssese Islands is Uganda’s answer to the tropical gems of the East African coast on the Indian Ocean. With a view of lake Victoria, they are considered the country’s premier rest and relaxation spot, with the popular Buggala Island and Bulago coming up top of the menu. 4.Murchison Falls National Park

Murchison Falls National Park was named for the roaring cataracts that carve right through their middle. The wilds of the Murchison Falls National Park are unquestionably some of the most amazing in north-western Uganda. The protected area is actually the largest national park in the country, with a whopping count of nearly 4,000 square kilometers between its borders. The biggest attraction is  the point where the Victoria Nile crashes through a tight-knit gorge and over an escarpment of more than 40 meters in height. It also has beautiful animals like lions , giraffes , zebras  and more . Below is a view of Murchison falls national park .

5. Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

 The Bwindi Impenetrable National Park really deserves it’s name ! its also one of Uganda best safari destination on twitter. It’s a  land of rocky peaks and endless green, it’s covered in some of Africa’s oldest primeval forestry. It’s  biodiversity  that is geckos next to gorillas next to a multitude of curious insects earned the forest a UNESCO World Heritage tag. The breathtaking landscapes are typical of the Albertine Rift. It is definitely one place not to miss out on visiting when you come to Uganda .

6. Entebbe

Entebbe is the entry point for most international visitors into Uganda because it’s where the  international airport is situated . It is also known to be an old British Protectorate  for it’s here that the English colonists made their base in earlier decades. It’s where the Uganda state house is also found . 7. Queen Elizabeth National Park

Queen Elizabeth National Park  this huge dash of wilderness  .It’s visited by thousands of tourists each year, who come in search of the lazy Congo lions and the swinging chimps that can be seen mingling between the Maramagambo Forest and the grassy savannah. The whole area is also scarred by countless volcanic features, going from the awesome Katwe craters to great rifts in the earth, making it an interesting and eye-catching place to go on safari drives.Below is an image of the national park .

8. Mount Elgon National Park

Mount Elgon National Park. It consists of one  Africas’s oldest volcano but generally it consists of so many beautiful features . Visitors can also feel the geothermal activity at a series of hot springs, or wonder upwards, to where African goshawks and elegant bush-shrikes flit through the skies. It is also known for its variety of species like the blue monkeys and many more . Below is an image of the mount elgon national park .

9. Lake Mburo National Park

Despite being one of the smallest national parks in Uganda, the swaying savannah grasses and riparian habitats of Lake Mburo certainly pack a punch. They come spotted with buffalo herds and zebras, crossed by prancing reedbucks, and stalked with hyenas. Today, much of the area is clad in young forestry, which springs up from the swamplands that dominate along the shores of the eponymous lake. These make for great game viewing during the dry season, when the animals congregate at the watering holes . More to say , Lake Mburo National Park is one of the most accessible going, with easy access along the highway from Kampala. Below is an image of Lake mburo national park .

10. Jinja

Jinja is just a 3hour drive from Kampala and it’s along the highways east to the river town of Jinja, which juts out into the waters where the River  Nile emerges from its eponymous  lake, lake Victoria. Sleepy, sun-cracked and relaxed, the place is the perfect antidote to the energy of life in Kampala . It’s got a clutch of great bars, but is most famed for the wealth of riparian resorts that line the banks. 11. Mgahinga Gorilla National Park

Mgahinga Gorilla National Park is found in the far southern parts of Uganda and is famously known for its great beasts the mountain gorillas . It’s also gifted with  indelibly green rainforests falling down from the windswept heights of cloud-shrouded volcanos. The area buts up to the famous Virunga Range, and offers game sightings of rare mountain gorillas alongside other awesome creatures like elephants , monkeys , to mention but a few. 12. Kidepo Valley National Park

Kidepo Valley National Park is found in the northern reaches of Uganda. It’s found about 700 kilometers from  Kampala , and is known for its remoteness. It comprises of savannah landscaoes and mud plains  with oodles of buffalo, hippo, oryx and wild dogs.Below is an image from the national park .
